Florida] 5 Rare Earthquakes in 30 days....

Florida has been in the media for its hurricanes. Hurricane season begins June 1, 2019 and runs til November 30, 2019. During this period the Northern Hemisphere is on the lookout for tropical cyclones.

Hurricane Michael was set at a category 5 with deadly winds of 169 mph. Hurricane Michael slammed into the Florida panhandle causing damaged that the communities are still recovering from.

California is known for it's high magnitude earthquakes. With the latest measuring at 4.1.

Florida has reported 5 rare earthquakes in a 30 day period. The first occurrence was March 6, 2019 with a magnitude of 2.7. No damage was reported. After the quakes, Florida Geological Survey and The U.S Geological Survey are planning to install seismic stations to collect more data on the situation.

Experts are looking into fracturing as the possible cause of these earthquakes. Fracking is the process of drilling into the earth before a high pressure water mixture is directed to the rock to release gas inside. High pressure is used to free up oil and gas from the rocks using water, sand and small chemical additives.

According to USGS, fracturing is not causing earthquakes but states that waterwaste disposal is the blame.

One of the reason why Florida earthquakes are rare is due to the position it sits on the Northern Hemisphere plate. The position makes Florida seismically inactive. The last report of earthquakes similar tremors was in 1952 in Tallahassee. Surveys show that most of these reported tremors comes from undocumented sources and other area sources such as explosions.

Human activities has put a toll on earths natural process. From the contaminated oceans to global warming. What's next? Some say we could be causing the earth to destroy itself in an unnatural way.
